Message from the President

Welcome to the GW Newman Center Alumni website!

While at GW, the time we spent at the Newman Center could have ranged from every waking moment not in class or a casual weekly appearance for Tuesday night dinners. Nevertheless, I’ve always been excited to see alumni (both old and new) staying in touch and getting to know current students. When I was approached to form a group of Newman Center alumni, I jumped at the chance to not only give back, but to create these same interactions for future groups of students.

While the opportunity exists for some to time and again return to the Newman Center, for many it does not. If you peruse this website, you will find opportunities to reconnect with fellow alumni, find out what is happening with an old friend and even discover opportunities to help with current projects at the Newman Center.

One way you can help that requires very little time is to give a gift of money or services. With more and more students finding the Newman Center, and thereby their faith, new programs are emerging and old ones need to grow. I’ll give you an example, a few years ago, Sunday student mass was attended by a handful of students, daily mass was mostly local professionals and programming was limited by participation. Now, masses see close to 200 students each week, the chapel is packed for daily mass with students and professionals, and the number of events, trips and retreats is in the dozens.

I hope that you will review the material on this website and reconnect with someone you haven’t seen in years, see what important and great things are happening at the Newman Center and become involved with either your time, a gift, or anyway you can help. I pray that your time since leaving GW has been filled with great things and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

God Bless,
