LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE
A recent GW graduate described GW Catholics "as punching above its weight class.” The only reason this is true is because of the quality, competency, and generosity of the students. As you get involved in the first-class opportunities at the Newman Center, we hope you will then apply to be part of what makes these events happen!
Here is the structure of GW Catholics: President, Vice-President, Board Directors, Committee Members.
The President is the head officer of the Board of GW Catholics and has chief oversight of all goings-on at GW Catholics. They work in close collaboration with the chaplain, campus minister, and FOCUS missionaries providing a vital link between the students and staff, as well as setting the tone and vision for the whole of the Newman Center by striving to live an exemplary Catholic life.
The Vice-President assists the President in the execution of their office, being a source of support and advice as well as carrying out the many associated administrative duties.
The Board Directors each head up one of the following Committees: Outreach, Liturgy & Prayer, Events, Media & Design, Finance, and Hispanic Ministries. The constant flow of activities at the Newman Center is possible because of these 6 committees. The Board Directors are the qualified student leaders who take charge of their particular committee, organizing, delegating, and ensuring execution of the responsibilities that fall within that Committee.
Committee Members are the unsung heroes of GW Catholics, the 20-40 students who put in the behind-the-scenes work to make GW Catholics so vibrant and fruitful in spreading and living out the Faith on campus. If you are just getting to know GW Catholics, this is the perfect way to get more involved and to become a part of that joyous effort!
